The Abushaib Family

Obyda ("Oby") and Monique grew up in Jacksonville, FL.  In March of 2019, just before their two year wedding anniversary, God connected them with BVSA and planted a seed in their hearts to join the West Africa ministry plant.

After growing up Muslim, Oby surrendered his life to Jesus at 19 years old. Because of his unique testimony, and after his first mission trip to Poland, he sensed a calling on his life to the foreign mission field. Oby has always had a passion for soccer, both as a competitive player and also as a licensed coach.

Since her first mission trip to Latvia at age 14, Monique has longed to be an interpreter for international mission trips, and love on children all over the world. She pursued a degree in French with that in mind, and God has now revived her dream and is making it a reality.

The Abushaibs are excited to join BVSA's mission to take the hope of Jesus to the world, and are in awe of His love and plan. They are praying God makes Himself known through their lives as they follow Him to West Africa.  Follow them on their blog HERE.
